Yeah... I'm a bit of a bookworm. I love to read pretty much anything and evertything (and I love how I waited so long for a new post). Anyway, I am currently reading "Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl." I figured that I should probably read this, seeing as how it's such an influential and important piece of literature. I really like it. I find it so interesting to get the perspective on history from a teenage girl. I'm beginning to understand more of what it was like for the Jewish to live under Nazi reign. I've read and learned so much about this point in history over the years, but to read Anne's first-hand account of what she was going through teaches me more than any textbook could. She manages to deal with it in a very optimistic way inspite of everything that has happened.
I have a great interest in Worl d War Two, even though it was a dark time in history. I feel that it is very important that people learn about it, and that they respect it. I hate it whenever someone whines about history; I find the war very interesting and I think griping about it or whining that you don't care is not respectful to the veterans at all. We could be speaking German if they hadn't stormed the beaches of Normandy and died for our freedom!!!! (See how I get angry? ) Those of us who have seen "Saving Private Ryan" will know what I mean when I say the war is not something you can gloss over. Not only was it a very bloody and necessary battle, it was also a very human experience as well. That is why I have such a profound interest in the subject, as well as tremendous respect for those who have fough and those who have perished...
...but I've gone off on a silly tanget. I think I should stop here for now, but I am not finished talking about World War Two... I'm sure I'll come back to it eventually....
